Please note that this is a REHEARSED READING – like a Radio Play – rather than a full Swan Performance.

Churchill’s Secret tells the story of Britain’s worst ever maritime disaster, yet few people have heard of it because it was deliberately covered up by Churchill and kept secret from the nation. In June 1940, the whole of mainland Europe was under Nazi occupation, France had just fallen, Britain was under intense threat and our forces were now in retreat.

The play tells the story of the last hours of The troopship Lancastria which was sent to repatriate British soldiers from France. It portrays the experiences of the young servicemen looking forward to heading home but then enduring extraordinary adversity. They ultimately discovered that, amidst the fog of war, their plight was largely forgotten by both government and country.

Doors open 7.15pm, Performance starts at 7.45pm, End time 10.00 pm
